
The intervention against narcotics in Mysur after a seizure of a large number of drugs from a temporary tent near the outer circular road in the city last Saturday on Tuesday, with a team of officials from the consumer department in the city parts.
Officials and staff from Subdivision and Home Guards under the boundary of Mysuri districts were part of the exercise performed by a superintendent excise duty, Mysur subdivision, according to an official statement here on Tuesday.
As part of the exercise, patrolling employees of the consumer department was carried out in UNNATHINAGAR, Belavatta, Vande Matharam Colony, Sai Baba Colony and Yelllamma Colony.
“There were no narcotic substances or violations of consumer proceedings during the raid,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, consumer department officials have appointed meetings with Vande Matharam Colony, Sai Baba Colony and Yellamma Colony to extend the awareness between the public against the use and sale of narcotic substances and offenses related to consumer given.
Citizens were also invited to immediately inform the police department if they encountered any illegal activities.
The raid of the excise tax department followed the sophisticated search operation performed by the municipal police under the leadership of the Commissioner of the Municipal Police of Seema Latkar.
The search operation started with the Municipal Police on Sunday after the police in Mumbai were acting on a tip from an arrested drug pedarger, on Saturday attacked an illegal drug production unit operating from a makeshift tent for a garage near the service road.
The search operations of the municipal police covered garages, magazines, hostels and residences of persons against which cases have already been registered under narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDP) in parts of Mandi Mohalla, NR Mohalla, Nazarbad and Udayagiri.
The location of illegal production activities in Mysur not only shocked the inhabitants of the city, but also caused a political stir with BJP leaders who demanded strict negotiations against persons involved in consumption and anesthesia trade.
