On Tuesday, the Hassan police exhumed the body in Santhe Basavanahalli in Aluru Taluk, after a complaint about the murder allegedly committed two years ago. Police found a skeleton that moved to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences for further investigation.
The police suspect that the skeleton belongs to Raghu, 32, allegedly murdered by his father Gangadhar, who died this year on August 2. Gangadhar, a farmer, lost his wife in 2019 and stayed with his two sons Raghu and Rupesh.
When relatives gathered at the funeral after Gangadhar’s death, they expected both his sons to be present during the final ceremonies. When Raghu did not appear, they asked Rupesha about his brother, who was reluctant to answer at first. However, as they persisted, he allegedly told them about the alleged murder committed on August 14, 2023.
Raghu, who had a work with BMTC in Bengalur, was released after he remained absent for a long time in his duties. Reportedly he suffered from mental health problems and was divorced. He returned to his native place and stayed with his father. Reportedly he demanded money from his father Gangadhar often, which led to heated arguments. Gangadhar allegedly killed Ragha after one such argumens. The police said Gangadhar buried Raghu’s body behind their house.
The police decided to exhume the body after Phalaksha, one of their relatives, filed a complaint on August 7. The police registered an unnatural death report and exhumed the body in the presence of higher revenue officers.
