The Ministry of Railway wants the crew to advise the train for reasonable rest and avoid unnecessary debates in running rooms, including, among other things, to prevent cases of red signal jump.
In the letter of 30 May and addressed to the general managers of all zones, the Ministry expressed serious concern about the persistent cases of the train crew and urged the relevant head of the department to advise them on different issues concerning security and learning.
“Take adequate relaxation at the headquarters and running rooms; avoid unnecessary debates in running rooms. Ensure the correct learning of the road as directed to the reserved route. Keep mobile phones in the tie in the conditions during the run” are some of the reference instructions.
In its letter, the ministry stated in the previous year (2024-25), in the security information system (SIMS) the incidents of 33 SPA (passing through a dangerous or red signal jump) were reported.
“Despite the constant preventive efforts, six cases of fallout have been reported this year, suggesting the need for strict crew advice and the necessary monitoring and corrective measures of officers and supervisors,” he said.
Sources from different railway divisions have said that the number of Cases is much higher than what is stated in the system. “If six cases have been reported in the SIMS, the real number could be much higher, because many officers do not report all cases of fallout,” the source said.
The letter summarized about 23 instructions for advice on running staff and 20 for officers and supervisors to information.
Some of the instructions, except above, said that the crew should be defeated that there would be no operating instructions of the station staff through Walkie-Talkie and gradually reducing the speed at the approaching restrictive aspects of the signal.
Regarding officers and supervisors’ instructions, the letter said they should educate all running staff on security rules, regularly publish updated books on the location of the signal to all crew members, locomine pilots (LPS) and locomine pilot assistants (AlP) at automatically signal, appropriate facilities verification.
“Organize safety seminars for family members to promote awareness of proper rest. Regularly analyze CUG call logs through CMS and take disciplinary steps in case of violation. Officers/press inspectors should be in lobbies,” Lobbie added.
