
The Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launches “Umeed Portal” (UMEED Portal ‘
On Friday (June 6, 2025) on Friday (June 6, 2025) on Friday (June 6, 2025) on Friday (June 6, 2025), unified WAQF management, authorization, efficiency and development (UMEED), a centralized digital platform for recording, verifying and monitoring WAQF properties. The Minister said that the portal will bring a paradigm shift in the WAQF asset management by introducing greater transparency, responsibility and public participation.
“The UMEED portal will add a new chapter in the WAQF real estate management history in India. It will not only bring transparency, but also help common Muslims, especially women and children,” Mr. Rijiju said.
UMEED, developed by the Ministry for Minorities, will be a digital inventory with a geo-giving all WAQF properties. Other key features include online compensation for better sensitivity and integration with GIS mapping and other electronic tools, the ministry said, and the addition of portal will also provide public access to verified records and WAQF messages.
Mr. Rijiju, who described the portal as a historical step, stressed that UMEED was more than just a technological upgrade. “It is a symbol of the government’s firm commitment to protect the rights of minority communities and ensure that the community owned by WAQF owned, is used effectively and fairly, for poor Muslims for which it was originally meant,” he added.
George Kurian, the State Minister for Minority Affairs, said the portal is a long -awaited reform that will reduce abuse and bring the WAQF to people. “The system ensures that each property is charged and used in accordance with the purpose that has been endowed,” he added.
Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Minister of the Ministry, said he expects the UMEED portal to become the backbone of the WAQF digital administration, ensuring that WAQF assets meaningfully contribute to education, health care, livelihood and social well -being, especially for underestimated troops in the Muslim community.
