Interior Minister Vangalapudi Anith promised on Monday to take care of the interests of farmers of sugar cane in the background of the closure of many sugar factory in the district. As an authorized District Minister, she reviewed developmental activities at a meeting organized in the Collector’s Office of Vizianagararam.
On this occasion, Mrs. Anith said that many farmers had stopped growing sugar cane, because there was no little chance to export it to crush with the closure of sugar factory in the district. Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinivas, Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu, several MLAs, including Murali (Rajam), Lalitha Kumari (S.Kota) Baby Nayan (Bobbili) and others informed the Minister in the district for various reasons.
They said that farmers were unable to send sugar cane to the Sanili Styli factory in the district of SRIKAKULM for further loads in the form of transport fees. Mrs. Anitha assured that she would deal with this question and would take the necessary steps to increase the cultivation of sugar cane next season kharif. It ordered agriculture officials to ensure adequate seed supplies and fertilizers for farmers and stop their sale for exaggerated rates on the open market. Mrs. Anith said that the government favors the improvement of the channels of all irrigation projects to increase crops in the district. Several MLA asked the Minister of the Interior to release the action plan for subsequent measures to decide at the district review meetings. The district collector BR Ambedkar told the Minister that the District Administration took the necessary steps to overcome drinking water problems in the city of Vizianagaram and other places and an alternative arrangement was taken to supply adequate drinking water to people.
