In a shocking incident, a 25 -year -old man, he said to be mentally disturbed, hammered his three nephews, all under 10 years, killed two of them, and left another critically injured on Saturday afternoon and fight for life in Hebagod.
The deceased was identified as Ishaq, 8 and Junaid, 6, while Roshan, 5, is critical and is treated in a private hospital, sources said. Police arrested the accused Kasim Pasha, 25 years old, who was unemployed and reportedly had problems with mental health.
The family comes from Yadgir and moved to the city in finding a job. Chand Pasha’s father works as a construction worker, while his wife Rehana works in a clothing factory. The couple and their three children lived with their mother Chand Pasha and younger brother Kasim Pasha.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when Chand Pasha went to work and Rehana was at the bank. After the morning classes, the children left under their grandmother’s care.
Kasim Pasha reportedly plunged into the house and locked the door from the inside and attacked the children with a hammer and an iron rod after stuffing the mouth with a cloth. She heard a stir, and her grandmother and the neighbors threw themselves into the place and forced the door to find three children in a pool of blood.
The police threw themselves into the place and moved the children to the hospital, where doctors declared that two of them were dead, while Roshan was moved to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NiMhans) for further treatment.
Police Hebagodi arrested from Kasim Pasha. The police said it was unrelated. “She looks disturbed,” the police said.
The accused had frequent fighting with his family members, the police said. After the fight for the trivial problem he left home and was traced a month ago and brought back Chand Pasha from Tamil Nadu.
The incident left the whole surroundings stunned. “It is shocking how he can kill the children who have stayed with him and play with him,” said Toufiq, a family neighbor, Hindu.
Ramesh Banoth, a joint police commissioner (east), a Bengaluru who visited the crime scene, said the motif of the murder was not yet clear. “We question the accused to find out the exact reason,” he said.
