
Many parts of the Malnad region received mild to heavy rains on Wednesday.
The house collapsed in Arehalli in Belur Taluk, and on the Bengaluru-Mangalur highway near Sakaleshpur there were reports on landslides. The overflowing streams interrupted the connectivity of the road in Donahali in Sakaleshpur Taluk.
Hassan deputy Commissioner KS Latha Kumar visited the affected areas of the district together with officers on the day. She looked at the landslides on the highway Bengalurur-manGaluru. She observed that the retaining wall was damaged due to heavy rains. The local public said DC that they were worried about their safety because their houses were placed on the hills where landslides could appear due to unscientific work on the extension of the road.
Schools and Anganwadi Centers in Akalgud, Alur and Sakaleshpur Taluks remained closed on the day.
Similarly, parts of Hosanagara, Tirthahalli and Sagar got heavy rains. Schools in Hosanagar Taluk were closed on the day. Taluk recorded 76.40 mm of rainfall in 24 hours, which ended at 8:30 on Wednesday. The average rainfall in the district of Shivamogg on the day was 34.69 mm.
The Chikkamagalur district declared a holiday for Anganwadi centers in rain areas on the day. The average rainfall in the district was 24.8 mm against normal 14.1 mm per day. Sringeri Taluk recorded the highest of 77.1 mm.
The tide into the tanks increases. Officers of the Hemavathi reservoir in Gorur, Hassan Taluk decided to release excess water on Thursday to fill the tanks in the command. The dam basin gets heavy rains. Sakaleshpur recorded 102.1 mm of precipitation. Similarly, Hobal, Hettur, Yeslur Hoblis recorded on day 110.5 mm, 180.9 mm and 109.3 mm precipitation.
