After facing the opposition from the inside of the State Cabinet and outdoors from those who belong to the politically influential Veerashaiva-Landayat and the Vokkalig communities, Chief Minister Siddaraiahah is likely to accept the “Go-Slow” approach to achieve the consensus on the introduction of socioenomic and educational survey.
Mr. Siddaramaiah, who chaired the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, told his ministers to mention the shortcomings of the survey report in writing and propose ways to fix disadvantages if they exist. About eight to 10 ministers spoke at the cabinet meeting, and the main minister decided to give other ministers a chance to broadcast their complaints at the next cabinet meeting, the sources in Congress said.
In the middle of the accusation that a survey that took place about ten years ago did not cover many households in urban areas such as Bengalur’s City, the government plans to open the door to households that have not registered into the survey to register their castes and other indicators.
Supported by high command
The report was the product of congress and the command of the party supported its implementation. In order to avoid the anger of politically and socio -dominant communities, the main minister could consider the problem of the problem by referring it to the cabinet subcommittee and buying more time for the final decision, the sources said.
At the cabinet meeting, some of the ministers from the Veerashaiva community and Vokkalig challenged the parameters received for carving new groups for reservation.
Recommendations for moving Kurubas, OBC, from more backward category 2A to the most backward in category 1b, did not go well with dominant castes and their leaders, said sources. Together with Kurbs, the Commission also recommended moving smaller groups of the OBC from 2A to 1B.
Some of the ministers, including the Deputy Minister of DK Shivakumar (Vokkaliga) and the Minister of the Forest and the Environment of Eshwar Khandre (Lingayat), reportedly proposed to the main minister that their communities would not accept the current form and the party might have to face the election failure in the election 2028.
Currently, from the 137 congress MLA, 60 legislators belong to two dominant communities.
The section claims that Congress suffered an election defeat in the 2018 assembly elections because of the government recommendations led by Siddaramaiaha, the Lingayat-Starashaiv community in the elections.
“Middle Way”
Congress, which we know well the importance of election support of backward communities, is not ready to lose support of citizens, Dalits and Muslims.
It is expected that Mr. Siddaramaiah, the leader of the Civil Code, draws the “middle way” by consensus and gaining support for all communities, the head of Congress said.
