President Pandjáb Bharatiya Janata (BJP) Sunil Jakhar on Monday (May 19, 2025) launched a scary attack on the main Minister Bhagwant Mann and claimed that the Government Aam Aadmi (AAP) “Government in Pandjab in Punjab”. He argued that this model of administration led to a large -scale failure in the state, and the recent AMRITSAR tragedy was a gloomy manifestation of alleged administrative failure.
Mr. Jakhar, accompanied by the delegations of the leaders of the BJP, called on the Gulen Pandjab Gula Chand Chand Kataria and urged the central investigation (CBI) for a tragedy that had so far claimed 27 lives.
“With regard to the Hooch tragedy in Amritsar, we demanded a CBI spacecraft that will explore the possible links between AAP management and the liqueur mafia,” said Jakhar after the meeting.
The BJP delegation submitted a detailed memorandum to the Governor and was looking for an investigation into the right to enforce the rights (ED) about what they called the “connection” between the Pandjab management and the illegal liqueur networks. “ED must make a complex probe to reveal the scope of the secret agreement,” said Jakhar.
He described the incident as a “tragedy that can be avoided” and claimed that distribution quotas for alcohol distribution in the AAP 2022 liqueur policy – modeled on Delhi in the area of excise tax – deserves control. “It is necessary to explore which of these quotas and to what extent,” he said.
The opposition parties intensified their criticism of the government of AAP after the tragedy and called on the main Minister Bhagwant Mann to take full responsibility.
The state government announced and distributed a compensation of 10 ₹ Lakh to families of the deceased and provided the strictest steps against the participants. The Pandjab Police registered two separate firs in Amritsar (rural) according to sections 105 (a faulty murder that does not cover murder) and 103 (murder) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit. Several arrests have already been carried out in connection with the case.
