After an air survey of the flood areas in Kalyana Karnataka, the main Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday that the state government will provide another 8,500 GBP per hectare above and over the hillside of the department, in all three categories of crops-deceit, irrigated and permanent.
He made the announcement at the Kalaburagagi media conference after an air survey of the districts of Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Bidar and Yadgir and chaired an inspection meeting with representatives of people and higher officials from disabled districts. These districts have seen intense floods in the last few days.
“According to NORF standards, rain, irrigated and permanent crops are entitled to 8,500 GBP, 17,000 and 22,500 GBP per hectare.
The range of damage
The main minister said that more than 9.6 lakh hectares of crops were damaged throughout the state, 9.03 hectares were in just eight northern districts – Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Bidar, Bagalkat, Belagavi, Raichur, and Gadag – total losses.
“According to preliminary estimates, almost 10 hectares of standing crops were influenced.
Floods required 52 lives and 422 cattle, except for 547 houses. “We have already published compensation for human victims. Relief for 407 death has also been paid. Overall, 80 auxiliary centers were established, where more than 10,500 people were placed,” Siddarahaiahah said.
Precipitation
From June 1 to September 29, Karnataka recorded 879 mm precipitation – 4% above normal. In the northern districts, however, the overvoltage was much higher: Vijayapura 615 mm (+58%), Kalaburagi 768 mm (+34%), YADGIR 659 mm (+29%) and Bidar 750 mm (+16%).
“This year, North Karnataka has seen precipitation levels that have not witnessed in many years. In conjunction with the massive influx of Maharashtra’s reservoirs, she created one of the worst flood disasters in recent memory,” said Mr. Siddarmaiaha.
He emphasized the role of the center in response to disasters and stated that his government would submit a memorandum seeking further resources. “I will send a delegation to meet the Prime Minister and Ministry of Trade Union, Finance and Agriculture to demand more funds for flood assistance.”
Air survey
At the beginning of the day, the main minister, accompanied by Ministers of MB Patil, Krishna Byre Gowda and Priyank Kharge, an air survey of areas affected by floods. The first round focused on villages in Kalaburagag and Vijayapura, followed by Bidar and Yadgir in the second.
After the aviation inspection, the main minister organized a detailed review with elected representatives and higher officers. He noted that the crop losses occurred in two phases-in August and later in September-A insisted on single-phase compensation units.
“If the relief is released separately, confusion and resentment between farmers may occur. It is better to complete a scientific survey as soon as the water retreats and provides compensation to all affected farmers together,” he said.
