
Representative of the Commissioner Kumar said on Monday that manga cultivation has expanded by approximately 10,000 hectares in the Mandya district, and Mango and Jackfruit Melo was organized to support farmers with better access to the market.
He spoke in the inauguration “Mango and Jackfruit Mel, Plant Expo and Sales Fair – 2025”, organized together by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and the Ministry of Horticulture.
Dr. Kumar stressed that Mango is one of the main gardening crops in the region, with the district produces more than 20,000 tonnes per year.
“Mel was organized to ensure that quality manga would be made available to consumers at fair prices to support stronger relationships with consumer farmers and provide encouragement to mango growers,” he added.
Panchayat Kr Nandini, CEO of Zilla, said he was held in the district after several years. In addition to Mango and Jackfruit displays, an exhibition and a sales event were also organized, providing high quality seedlings to farmers and the general public, she added.
Mela offers more than 15 stalls and represents more than 40 varieties of mango brought by local farmers and growers from other districts. The organizers stated that emphasis is placed on the support of fruit without chemicals and carbides.
In addition, more than 10 jackfruit varieties are exposed, which draws interest from consumers. The organizers urged the public to visit Mel and make the most of this opportunity.
The superintendent of police Mallikarjun Baladandi, Deputy Director of the Gardening of Roopashree and other higher officials were present.
The exhibition contains popular varieties such as Badami, Raspuri, Mallika, Malgova, Sentura, Kesar, Sakkarebuthi, Imam Pasand, Totapuri, Rumani, Chilak Ras, Amlet and Madanapalli, which visitors.
