In West Bengal, a political line broke out over the reported vandalism in the Rabindranath Tagore ancestors, located in Bangladesh Sirajganj, with the ruling Congress Trinamool and the opposition party Bharatiya Janat (BJP).
The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee 12. June wrote Narendra Modim to call him to “take the matter very strongly with the government of the neighboring country, so no stone remains to quickly stand up to the perpetrators of this nasty and mindless act.”
Mrs. Banejee observed that Rabindranath Tagore was known not only in West Bengal, but all over the world, and there was no building on the subcontinent but on a subcontinent.

“Although there has been no damage to the non -confiscation, a strong international protest would at least be at least discouraged on any attack on the monuments of cultural heritage, which persistently lasted all tests of time,” said Trinamool Congress.
The letter of the main minister came the day after the leader of the opposition in West Bengal, Suvend Adhikari, raised the problem during the address at the religious event in Calcutta.
“Attacking Kachari Bari is not just an attack on the building; it is an attack on our shared heritage, our identity and our values. For Hinds in West Bengal, this serves as a need for vigilance in the protection of our cultural heritage, especially in demographically volatile areas,” Adhikari said.
BJP, who shared video footage of vandalism, used an incident to appeal against the “unity of Hindus” in West Bengal and reiterated that “vandalism serves as a reminder of the need to protect our cultural heritage, especially in demographically volatile regions”.
Mr. Adhikari also accused the Congress of Trinamool of the replication of “Raming of Radical Islamic Forces” and called on the political correction of the course in the elections to the Assembly of 2026. The BJP leadership in West Bengals repeatedly described attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, especially after the regime of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2024.
In its statement issued on June 12, the Ministry of External Affairs condemned vandalism. The official spokesman said the incident was part of the “wide pattern” of attacks on the pluralistic culture of Bangladesh.
In response to the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the people of Bangladesh hold Rabindranath Tagore in the “highest respect” and that the government acted immediately after the incident on government assets.
Kachharibari, located in Shahzadpur in the Rajshahi division, served historically as the Tagore family’s income office and residence. In 1840 it was bought by grandfather Rabindranath Tagore, Dwarakanath Tagore.
