MS Dhoni and Sunil Gavascar New Delhi: Cricket Legend Sunil Gavascar criticized the Criket Council in India (BCCI) for a change in its rules to accommodate MS Dhoni as a “unlimited player” before the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. In his column in Sportstar Gavascar, he raised an alarm over the rising salaries of players unlimited and warned that such movements could harm the future of the Indian cricket.
BCCI revived the rule – discarded in 2021 – which allows the Indian player who has not played an international cricket in five years to be considered “unlimited”. This allowed Chennai Super Kings to keep Dhoni for RS 4 Crore in the category of unlimited player.

“To conceive Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who became a non -drifted player before last year, the limit was increased to CRS RS 4,” Gavascar noted, calling this move disappointing favorable over merit.
Who is the IPL player?
He also questioned the fragmentation value of the untested talent. “A lot of players purchased for a huge amount simply disappear because their hunger and drive are saturated … The Indian cricket takes a little beating loss of any player, whether it was successful or not,” he wrote.

Should BCCI limit salaries for unclassified players?
“In all these years, it is difficult to remember the unlimited player purchased for the huge numbers that justified its integration into the team,” Gavascar added, noting that players often work better as soon as the price and pressure drop.
Gavascar urged the BCCI to reverse the change of the rule and limit the salaries for non -classified players to protect the long -term interests of the Indian cricket.
