The leader of the CPI in Telangana was killed when unidentified men started fire during the morning walk in Hyderabad’s Malakpet on Tuesday, July 15, the police said.
The attackers arrived in the car, started fire at Chanda Naik (47), a member of the State Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI), while he was on a morning walk near the park at 7.30 am. After shooting several rounds, he died on the spot, said the head of the police official PTI.
The accused then fled from the scene. The police team plunged into the place and started the investigation. The representative of the police commissioner (southeast zone) Chaitanya Kumar, who quoted a preliminary investigation, told reporters that at least three to four people were involved in Naik shooting.
The police said that the previous hostility coming from the land dispute is the reason for killing.
Cops restore 3 fired wheels and 2 irrelevant wheels
According to the PTI report, the police won three fired bikes and two irrelevant bikes from the place. On this basis, it seems that only one weapon was used in fire. However, the police official said, further investigation is a continuation.
He said the police verify the routes of the car in which the attackers came. CCTV shots were also analyzed in the area to identify themselves. The official further stated that the old rivalry is suspicious due to the attack.
“It seems that (attack) is above the problem of land. He had disagreement with some people,” the police said, adding that three people appeared as the main suspect. The police are trying to provoke more information from them.
Ten teams were created to explore the murder and charged the accused, the police said. Chanda Naik was accused in the case of murder, which was registered at the LB Nagar police station in 2022, the police said.
They gave the victim no complaint about any threat to his life.
“Someone called him and shot him”
Naik’s brother, Jaipal, said PTI said that someone had called his brother and shot him. He also stated that he had filed against one suspect and gave the police the names of six people.
“He (Chanda Naik) went for a morning walk around 7:30 in the morning. Someone called him and shot him. He never told us anything about any conflict. He had no idea that it would happen … We filed a case against the person we suspected.
Former CPI MP Syed Azeez Pasha said, “About 10:00 I was informed that our party leader was murdered during his morning walk. He got sufficient warning that they could hurt him.
