The LDF claims that there has been a leak of personal data of the applicants in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) over the alleged leak of personal information of applicants in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has asked the state government to investigate the matter. LDF Parliamentary Party President SP Deepak said that personal information such as addresses of individuals who apply to the corporation for various purposes are being misused to file fraudulent complaints or for other unauthorized use.
“In one case, a complaint was lodged against Soumya, an officer in the tax wing of the corporation, against the name and address of Ajayan, a resident of Madhavapuram, Veli. The corporation authorities, without conducting any investigation or verifying the facts, hastily initiated disciplinary proceedings against the employee. It was only when the authorities contacted the alleged complainant that the alleged complainant was discovered and his address along with the file was used. alleged Mr. Deepak.
He said that the filing of such a complaint indicates suspicious activity, irregularities and tampering by some employees as filing of applications or complaints to local government bodies requires verification through Aadhaar linked OTP. Online complaints or requests usually include the requester’s phone number; that information was also used to file a fraudulent complaint, he said.
“The hasty initiation of disciplinary proceedings against an employee without first hearing the alleged complainant or verifying the genuineness of the complaint is highly suspicious. Leakage of information submitted for various purposes, including building permits, is a serious problem,” Mr Deepak said.
