Strong coordination between elected representatives and administrative officials is essential to accelerate India’s economic progress and ensure people-centric governance, Union Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan said on Friday, the second day of the 12th Chintan Shibir 2025 held at Dharampur in Valsad. Addressing a rally in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and senior bureaucrats, Mr. Somanathan said that while elected leaders embody the people’s mandate, civil servants play a key role in implementing rules and procedures. According to him, effective teamwork between the two leads to simple, transparent and efficient administration. Mr. Somanathan noted that the Union Government is adopting proactive strategies to fulfill the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, with a renewed focus on industrial growth, ease of doing business and strengthening governance frameworks. He added that both the Center and the state governments are working to ensure that entrepreneurs and start-up founders do not face undue hurdles or harassment from the tax authorities. He said India’s foreign exchange reserves are strong and inflation is under control. Employment is increasing and the fiscal situation is stable, which are positive indicators of holistic development. He pointed out that the expansion of IITs, IIMs and medical and nursing colleges has created significant youth employment opportunities and strengthened India’s start-up ecosystem, a foundation he believes will fuel development for decades to come. He said that the Gujarat government’s Chintan Shibir initiative is exemplary and the ideas and guidelines presented by ministers and senior officials will act as a driving force for policy making and administrative reforms in the country.
