Keral High Court ordered the Vigilance Special Investigation Team team to complete the probe into the alleged fraud of microfinance, including the Secretary General of SNDP Yogam Vellapally NATESAN and others.
Originally registered in 2016, the case concerns an alleged abuse of 15.85 GBPs worth government loans paid through SNDP yogam between 2003 and 2014 within the microfinance system to benefit from marginalized communities. There was also an alleged agreement between SNDP Yogam officials and former management directors Keral State Backward Class Development Corporation (KSBCDC).
The bench of justice K. Babu issued a directive and also considered a petition filed in 2020 by Mrs. Anile of Cherthala. He was looking for a thorough probe of vigilance led by an honorary and effective officer. Investigations headed by J. Himendranath, Superintendent of the Police (SP), was subsequently assigned S. Sasidharan, SP, Vigilance and the Anti -Corruption Office (VACB), Central Range, Ernakulam. Mr. Sasidharan has now been sent as the director’s assistant (administration), the Kieral Police Academy.
The director of vigilance has submitted before court that the probe can head to Mr. Sasidharan or handed over to the existing VACB, Central Range, Ernacula. The court stated that the case has been dealing with the case since November 2024 and that the investigation was in its last phase. Mr. Sasidharan said he could complete the probe within three months. The Court thus ordered the state government to issue the necessary orders entrusted to him.
