The Assam Cabinet headed by the main Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) approved the expansion of the Kaziranga and Tiger Reserve National Park.

The statement of the Office of the Chief Minister stated that as the sixth addition of the National Park, the area of 47 306.33 hectares will be added. “The aim of this step is to strengthen the efforts to protect biodiversity and support sustainable tourism at the UNESCO World Heritage Site,” the statement said, adding that the cabinet decided on the expansion of May 21st.
The statement also stated that 10 villages would be excluded from the extension plan. These villages are Baligaon, Biswanath Ghat, Gakhirkhaite, Gonaitapu, Gopal Jarani, Hatimura, Jobre, Silghat, Thute Chapori and Umamamoni.
Meanwhile, the main minister organized the first meeting of the main committee of Bharat Ratna Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. He said that the Maestro music biography, which is currently reviewed, will be translated into 23 Indian languages.
The CV will be distributed to more than four Lakh universities, libraries and offices across the country and 10 lakhs in Assam.
