The interior minister has ordered the police to fight hate speech
Interior Minister V. Anitha asked the police to protect freedom of expression, democratic debate and legitimate criticism guaranteed by the Constitution.
The home minister on Monday virtually took stock of the law and order situation with the police and directed the police to crack down on those spreading illegal and hateful content.
Ms. Anitha said that nearly 9,000 women and girls have been traced in the state under ‘Operation Tracking’. The sex offense investigation rate is about 90% and 12,653 illegal URL links have been removed through the Sahayog portal, she said.
Meanwhile, police said the PD Act has been invoked against 131 accused under the NDPS PIT Act and about 30,000 acres have been shifted to alternative crops.
The Home Secretary also reviewed the performance of the EAGLE and Sakthi teams with the concerned officers.
