The emerging panel discussion leaders under the auspices of the Naval Symposium of the Indian Ocean (Ions) were carried out at southern naval command in Kochi from 27 to 28 August 2025.
Delegates from 19 members participated and provided an inclusive platform for young maritime leaders to exchange ideas and deliberate on the future of maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean region (IOR).
According to the Indian Navy, more Admiral V. Srinivas, an officer of the flag, commanding the chief boss, southern naval command, main expression and reaffirmed the Navy’s obligation to dialogue, trust and cooperative security in IOR.
The event included four thematic sessions. The opening session has examined the “strategic importance of Ior and the challenge of young officers” focusing on the safety of maritime trade, climate change, geopolitical dynamics and innovative solutions for the protection of the region.
The second session, “Emerging Technologies in Maritime Security” has explored the role of systems supported by A, unmanned platforms, cyber security, survey and space supervision in maritime operations.
On the second day, discussing “future role of ions in supporting cooperation with maritime safety” with an emphasis on interoperability, joint exercise and professional exchange. The final meeting “Using the ability of training between ions – the future travel map”, dealt with the association of resources, strengthened the interconnection of training and developed common framework to increase readiness.
In addition to formal negotiations, the participants are involved in cultural and social activities, Keral’s naval heritage, supporting friendships and links to people.
The discussion closed the consensus of strengthening awareness of maritime area, developing technological partnerships and expanding shared education initiatives. The delegates reaffirmed the role of Ions as an inclusive forum devoted to collective maritime security and restored their obligation to peace, prosperity and stability in the Indian Ocean area.
