On the last day of his visit to the UK, the delegation of Members of all parties from India, led by Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad, met with a spokesperson of the Chamber of Deputies, Lindsay Hoyle, in an effort to sensitize lawyers with Pakistan’s Indian experience Sindoore. Over the past three days, the delegation has encountered a civil society, a Think tank and diaspora members, except for junior ministers.
Members of the delegation of multiple parties, composed of male and female deputies of various religions, regions and parties, said their British partners were receptive to concern about India and compassionate with his situation. However, it seemed that the tangible changes in policy were for the time being elusive, and the delegation aims to shift its opinion. Several members of the delegation indicated that policy -related interviews would appear at bureaucratic or ministerial levels.
At the media briefing in Indian High Commission in London, Tueedsay (June 3, 2025), Mr. Prasad outlined the history of the conflict between India and Pakistan and economic prospects of India and contrasted them with Pakistani trajectory. He said that some of the terrorists who dealt with Pakistan, including Osama bin Laden (who was killed in 2011 by US forces). When he talked to journalists, Mr. Prasad said that the murderer of the Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was killed in the Sindoor operation.
“The world must speak in one voice,” and Pakistan should be made to pay for sponsoring terrorism, Prasad said, adding that this result was the purpose of the visit. He suggested that Pakistan financing (for example from the International Monetary Fund or IMF) was aimed at buying weapons rather than to mitigate poverty.
“We evoke the human spirit of all democratic countries and trust this spirit of human rights, civilized behavior …” Prasad said in response to the question of the Hindus on whether the United Kingdom legislators committed themselves to political reactions and whether India used any leverage to evoke in reaction.
“Do not forget that we are deputies …”, Mr. Prasad said, adding that there were other exchanges between prime ministers and Foreign Ministers among the premieres and foreign ministers in India and the UK
According to Mr. Prasad, they became acquainted with the delegation on the British side of the Pakistani terrorist infrastructure, “where the distinction between military leadership and terrorist network”.
He asked about the claims of US President Donald Trump that he helped to end the round of hostility between India and Pakistan and that business agreements were involved, Mr. Prasad was reduced.
“I do not want to join him, except for the repetition that Vice -President (JD) also spoke to our prime minister, (American) State Secretary spoke to our Foreign Minister.
Most of the World Bank and IMF assistance in Pakistan goes to China for the purchase of weapons, said Prasad, adding that India was involved in dialogue with China to explain that the weapons sold to Pakistan were used for terrorism, not a conventional war.
Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that China would understand that her investments and projects in Pakistan were disturbed due to extremism and radicalization.
The legislators on both sides had a “good conversation in the free space”, said Pankaj Saran, who was part of the delegation and formerly a representative of the National Security Adviser and Ambassador in Russia.
The conversation had a “one -off agenda of Pahalgam and Indian reactions”, Saran said.
During their conversations, they did not hear the attempts to combine the problem of Kashmir with terrorism, according to Mr. Saran.
“No one sat up and said,” Listen, you know, you have some problems. Please solve them if you want to deal with terrorism, “he said.
“It’s a big change,” he added.
However, some experts feel that timing can be demanding for a global consensus about Pakistan’s relationship with terrorism.
“The fact is that it is not a global priority for the US, for the United Kingdom, France and Germany. They have other things to think about … Russia, Ukraine, Middle East, Gaza, Africa, China,” said Rahul Roy-Chaudhura, leading south and Central Asian defense, strategy and diplomacy in Iiss, Think. While terrorism and radicalization are important areas for the UK, Mr. Roy-Chaudhura says that there are no highest security fears right now.
There is also a risk of “re-hyphenation with Pakistan”, according to Mr. Roy-Chaudhury.
While other countries can give India a nice ear, they could also say, “It’s your (Indian) fight,” Mr. Roy-Chaudhura said.
At the end of their Visite in the UK, MPs met in a parliamentary group of all parties (Appg India) on Tuesday afternoon.
“Lord Presidents (Karan) Bilimoria and Jeevun Sandher expressed a clear conviction of the terrorist attack on behalf of Appg India and expressed solidarity with India,” said Delegate and SHIV Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi.
The group went to Brussels on Tuesday afternoon for discussions with the institutions of the European Union.
