The Indian army in a large jump to operating readiness against the emerging air threats launched an ordinary developed system of “Saksham” with nausea (Cuas).
The system is designed to detect, monitor, identify and neutralize enemy drones and unmanned air systems in real time, and ensure comprehensive airspace security in the newly defined tactical battlefield (TBS), which now includes air lithoral (airspace up to 3,000 meters or 10,000 feet).
According to the army, during the Sindoor operation, a requirement for the robust framework of Cuas appeared, emphasizing the vulnerability of existing measures to control the airspace against enemy drones. In response to this, the army expanded its operational concept from the tactical battle area (TBA) to a wider TBS and acknowledged that future conflicts will develop at the same time across land and low high -rise domains.
This paradigm shift allows ground formation to keep control of the air litoral and ensure unlimited movement for friendly air assets and at the same time face potential hostile entries.
Developed in cooperation with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Ghaziabad, Saksham or Situal Awareness of Kinetic Soft and Hard Killed Assets, is a modular, top command and control (C2) that works on Secure Army Data Network (ADN). It creates an integrated recognized UAS (RENP) in real time for commanders, merge sensor data, systems against de-drones and controlled AI analysts, added the army.
The system will have functions such as real -time threat detection and predictive analysis supported A, integrating CUAS sensors and weapons for synchronized reaction, automated support and visualization of the battlefield, trouble -free interoperability with other operating systems and inputs from Akashteer system to map all friendly, neutral and hostile air users.
Saksham reflects the government’s vision of Atmanirbhara Bharat in defensive technology and is completely native. Approved on the Fast Track Procurement (FTP) route, it will be introduced into all field formations within one year.
Once functional, Saksham creates the backbone of the army of the Cuas grid, increases the speed of decision -making, allows quick involvement and ensures control of the air litoral. This initiative is a decisive step towards the digitally permitted, connected battlefield, in accordance with the decade of the military transformation (2023–2032).
