According to a new survey, about 40% of Americans say they could support the new political party created by Elon Musk. Quantus Insights’s survey found that 14% would be “very likely” and 26% “somewhat likely” to support Musk’s proposed “American party”.
Republican men show the strongest interest in Muska’s third party plan: Poll
Musk announced this idea during the struggle with former ally Donald Trump on a huge draft law on government expenditure. He called Trump’s “one big beautiful account” – which adds US debt $ 3.3 trillion – “mad”. Musk claims that America needs an alternative to both major parties claiming that he actually cooperates as “Uniparty” against the interests of regular people.
The survey shows a clear division in who likes Muska’s idea. Republican men are most interested – 57% said they probably support the American party. Independent men followed 47%.
However, the Democrats do not like the plan largely, with only 7% of democratic men say they strongly support it. A survey of 1,000 voters also found a deep misfortune with the two main parties: 59% of independent ones said that neither Republicans nor Democrats represent US values well.
Experts will notice that this openness for a third party is not really about Muska himself – it reflects the widespread frustration from the current political system.
Musk’s dispute with Trump exploded after he passed the expenditure last week. The CEO of Tesla served in Trump’s government, but ended in May. After Musk criticized the bill, Trump warned that he could cancel government contracts for Muska’s companies and even suggested that he deported him (Musk was born in South Africa). Trump Ally Steve Bannon attacked Musk as a “foreigner” trying to divide the conservative voters. Meanwhile, Musk’s survey X to start a party received over 1.25 million votes, 65% said “yes”.
Even with its $ 361 billion, experts say Musk would try to create a real national party. Each state has different rules for new parties to reach the ballots – California itself requires 75,000 registered members or 1.1 million signatures!
The election lawyer Brett Kappel explained: “State laws … make it difficult for the third political party as difficult.” The campaign financing laws also reduce individual gifts to the parties to only $ 10,000 per state annually.
