A wintry combination of snow, sleet and ice could affect the region Monday morning, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said. The agency issued a winter weather advisory from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 2 for southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeast Indiana, according to the Cincinnati report.
Forecasters say up to an inch of snow and sleet could accumulate along with ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch. Several schools have already announced delays and closures.
An advisory warns that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are expected to be slippery and dangerous, potentially disrupting the Monday morning commute, Cincinnati said.
A warmer, wetter pattern increases the risk of flooding
From Tuesday, the area is expected to transition into milder and wetter weather that will continue through the rest of the week. Periods of rain – possibly accompanied by thunderstorms – are forecast from Tuesday to Saturday. Repeated rainfall may increase the risk of flooding, the weather service said.
