“The main thing about auctions is you have to be disciplined and stick to your plan,” he said. “Even if you feel that the auction is not going in the direction you wanted, you have to be patient and adapt quickly. The moment you start panicking, something can go wrong.”According to the former Indian all-rounder, no franchise runs away with every target.“You’re never going to get all the players you’re looking for,” he said. “If you can get about 70-75 percent of the players or skills you wanted, you’ll be happy.”The Southern Braves brought back familiar name Chris Jordan, a longtime favorite in the Utilita Bowl, the team’s home venue.“We really believe he has tremendous value for us,” Badani said. “He’s somebody who’s been with the Braves, he’s done well here and he understands the conditions. The franchise also opted for the future by signing England U-19 cricketer Thomas Rew, whose performances at youth level have impressed the coach.“I saw him live during the U19 World Cup and I thought he was batting beautifully,” Badani said. “He hits the ball well and we believe he is someone for the future.Another signing is David Miller, with whom Badani has previously worked at Delhi Capitals. While the previous association helped, Badani said the decision was primarily a tactical one.“We were looking for a left-hander who can finish plays and play the rotation well in the middle and at the end,” he explained. “Getting someone like Miller at the price we did was a steal.
