
The Telangana State Human Rights Commission on Tuesday said it has taken suo motu cognizance of Shaikh Riyaz’s meeting in Nizamabad.
The Commission directed Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy to submit a detailed report covering the circumstances leading to the incident, the status of any judicial or judicial inquiry and compliance with Supreme Court and NHRC guidelines on encounter deaths, along with copies of the FIR and post-mortem.
In a separate development, Majlis Bachao Tehreek spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan on Tuesday demanded an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge to probe the killing of police constable Pramod and the subsequent encounter with accused Shaik Riyaz. Mr. Khan raised several questions and demanded that Nizamabad Police Commissioner Sri Chaitanya go on voluntary leave.
