
On Tuesday, the Keral Human Rights Commission ordered the creation of a medical investigation team conducted by the Medical Education Director in order to explore the recent death as a result of rabies infection.
The Directive, issued by the chairman of the Commission Alexander Thomas, instructs that the medical team must be commissioned to investigate various aspects, including whether the deceased persons received vaccination against rabbins, whether the correct vaccines, the efficiency of the vaccines were adhered to, and whether the vaccines were stored to prevent Kazids. The Suo Mot action started on the basis of media messages.
The command states, it should also identify preventive measures to ensure that such a tragedy does not appear. The message must be submitted within a month.
Evaluate the effectiveness
The Commission also ordered another main secretary of the medical department to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccines against Rabies used in government hospitals. The probe must confirm whether these vaccines meet quality standards recommended by the National Disease Control Center (NCDC). The report should also specify which agency is entitled to assess the quality and efficiency of anti-rabies vaccines currently used in the state.
Mr. Thomas recommended that the state government consider the appointment of the agency recommended by NCDC to study recent incidents and propose preventive strategies.
The Commission planned to meet on June 9 at 10 am in its office. Deputy Director of Medical Education and Deputy Medical Secretary was ordered to attend a session.
