The High Court in Kerala expressed concern and shock in alleged cases of exploiting women from the vulnerable parts of society, which are brought to the state as “egg donors” or as a future surrogate mother for assisted reproductive technology (ART).
The divisional bench of justice Devan Ramacandran and the judiciary of MB Snehalatha made observations while considering the petition of Art Bank, Chengamanad, Ernakulam.
The petitional company got under the scanner after health workers and police staff attacked their facilities for suspicion of trading and shifted women who presented the government hiding in the district.
The petitioner claimed that women voluntarily visited an institution for medical screening.
While he said that art was a global gamechanger, the court said that unfortunately it brought various harmful tendencies, especially in countries with low and medium incomes. “We are also afraid that it has also penetrated Kerala. Many couples are attracted to the art of advertising on social media and other trips. Often there is also an exploitation of the hope of aspirating parents,” he said, expressed concern about alleged insufficient transparency.
The court previously ordered the protection of women when he was informed that the interests were trying to influence and threaten. The case was sent to hear by October 10.
