The HC seeks the Centre’s response to the CBI’s request to probe the ₹700 crore scam
The Kerala High Court has sought the response of the Center and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a petition seeking a CBI probe into a ₹700 crore scam in which investors were allegedly assured of US armed forces defense contracts.
The court further ordered the state government to submit a report on the progress of the police investigation into the matter, following a CBI probe application filed by Thiruvananthapuram native A. Harikrishnan, who said he lost ₹1 crore through the scam.
A private firm involved in the scam allegedly claimed to have secured a defense deal under a secret Indo-America-Pacific peace treaty. Investors from Kerala and other states said they had invested ₹700 crore in the project, which turned out to be a scam.
The matter was referred for hearing on August 18.
