Guntur Municipal Corporation plans to plant over five lamps throughout the city during the ongoing monsoon. From June to August, it has already been planted by about 35,000 seedlings, Commissioner GMC Puli Srinivasulu told Hind.
Mr. Srinivasul said that the Permanent Committee and the GMC Council approved the proposal. Seedlings are obtained from AP Greening Corporation, Forest Schools and Private Schools.
GMC will promote composting houses covering 75,000 houses and closing composting covering 50,000 households to ensure the fertilization of these plants. Mr. Srinivasul said that they encourage schools, universities, commercial facilities, non -governmental organizations, housing companies and individuals to plant seedlings.

The civic body also plans to have ornamental plants along the main roads. Local female self -help groups (SHG) and apartment associations would take care of them. In addition, parks in the city will be developed with medicinal plants.
The Commissioner said GMC is covered with NCAP (National Program of Clean Air), that the local authority plans to reduce carbon emissions by supporting green.
