In a terrifying attack on the government over the placement of US tariffs, Secretary General of the Sachin Pilot on Sunday (April 6, 2025), he said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi should develop constructive solutions during his last visit to the US.
He said that at a time when the world is responding to the imposition of mutual tariffs in the US, the Indian government only buys time and leaves everything to fate.
Former Minister of Business Affairs said that the Indian government accepts what has been distributed nor has it offered an answer.
“I would imagine that when he was Prime Minister in Washington (February) and met the US President, instead of mere photographic ops and gifts exchange, it should be something more constructive,” Pilot said.
“If our relationships are as strong as both leaders say, then we would not be slapped by these steep tariffs. It is clear that our exports will be seriously affected, production was in any way at the disadvantage, MSMES is in shock … The economy will face serious stress due “He said,” he said, “he said,” he said.
The government was caught by sub -zimimation and it seems that under us the pressure to sacrifice Indian interests, he claimed.
Mr. Pilot pointed out that many European countries responded strongly, and in fact China would legally take steps against the US in WTO. While European countries spoke about similar tariffs, Canada and Mexico also indicated the mutual storage of higher tariffs, but “we haven’t responded yet,” he said.
“So one does not know what the government intends to do, but one thing is clear that these trade wars will be a huge problem, whether it be inflation, production, productivity, technology transmission – everything will be influenced, but despite it is in the meeting, it does not mean that the reaction or certainty from the Indian government will protect.
The pilot, who called for a proper strategy to deal with the problem with this question, said that if a tariff proposal was in the pipeline, the Indian government should communicate and deal with it in a much more strategic way than it was.
“Basically, we accept what has been distributed, and while the whole world reacts, we still have to respond,” he said.
He said India is now a more connected economy around the world by an economy, he said that the US step would have an impact on India, especially at a time when “record unemployment” has existed from independence.
“Our burden on state debt has increased exponentially, and while our economy is growing, it is rich in historical level at historical level. A large part of our workforce deals with trade and production related to exports and millions of jobs, but the government did not work with any creative ideas to deal with the consequences of these customs.”
He said it was difficult to predict exactly what the results of the US -stored tariffs would be, but he claimed that the Indian government should be better prepared because they know that it is coming.
India, which is a US strategic partner, has not brought any benefits at least in terms of current economic scenario, Mr. Pilot added.
The US announced 27% of mutual tariffs in India and stated that the new Delhi stipulates high import obligations for US goods, because the aim of Donald Trump administration is to reduce business deficit and increase production. This step is expected to affect India’s export to the US
President Trump, in a measure to face higher duties of US products stored globally, announced mutual tariffs to about 60 countries.
On the recently approved WAQF law (amendment) 2025, which has now become an act, Mr. Pilot said that Congress clarified his attitude in parliament and the opposition was associated against him.
“The question is examining – why this bill was brought to parliament? The intention that this law brings is not what is claimed. If there were isolated incidents of failure or inconsistency to be corrected, they could be corrected.
“The way the bill was brought, in such a hurry, despite the huge opposition from all corners, including political parties, stakeholders, communities leaders, intended to have another debate on Hindu and Muslims and Mandira and Masjid in this country to divide the country and polarize the narration of religious lines.
“It is an old BJP trick to avoid receiving and solving real problems such as manipur, unemployment, food pricing, Chinese invasions in our territory, and distract the country’s attention to highly questionable and polarizing issues to suit their political and election program,” he added.
President of the Murmu on Saturday (April 5, 2025) gave the draft law of WAQF, which was approved by parliament last week after heated debates in both houses.
