
The Minister of the Municipal Administration and water supply to KN Neshru said on Thursday that the state government identifies a suitable land and sets up a wastewater treatment plant (STP) to prevent wastewater discharging in a current flowing through Periyanaickenpalayam Town Panchayat in the Coimbatore district.
The Minister responded to the proposal of attention, which shifted Kavundampalayam Mla Prg Arunakumar, which was looking for a state government to prevent wastewater mixing in a stream in Periyanaickenpalayam Panchayat. The Minister said there were more than 32,000 people in Periyanaickenpalayam, with 10,951 residential buildings, 1,029 commercial facilities and 321 industrial buildings.
All houses are equipped with toilet devices and septic tanks. Commercial equipment and industrial units in this area have their own mechanisms of wastewater treatment and no chemical waste, industrial waste water or sludge are directly discharged into streams, he said.
At Periyanaickenpalayam Town Panchayat was founded at the price of £ 2,48 crore. Efforts to identify suitable places for creating STP are also evolving. However, due to the unavailability of suitable land, the project was delayed. The state government is even ready to buy a private land located outside the residential location to set up STP, he added.
