The golden jubilee celebrations of the Department of Business Administration at BN Bahadur Institute of Management Sciences (BIMS), University of Mysore, concluded here on Saturday with the formal inauguration of the alumni association and felicitation of D. Anand, senior professor, who retired after an inspiring journey in the department.
Mysore University MBA Alumni Association (BIMS) was founded by MR Jaishankar, Founder and Executive Chairman of Brigade Group, a graduate of the Department of Business Administration. He was the chief guest of the event and delivered the valedictory speech.
In his inaugural address, Vice-Chancellor NK Lokanath said the future of management education is to be intelligent, inclusive and immersive, adding that he believes BIMS is well-positioned to lead this transformation.
“May the golden jubilee serve as a renewed commitment to excellence in education, impactful research and meaningful engagement with industry and society. I congratulate the entire BIMS family – past and present – on their remarkable journey. May the coming decades bring even greater achievements and global recognition,” he said.
He said that a strong alumni network is the backbone of any great institution and added that he is confident that this initiative will further strengthen the global footprint of BIMS. Institutions like BIMS must evolve in times of rapid technological transformation, globalization and interdisciplinary challenges.
Prof. Lokanath said Prof Anand, who is retiring after four decades of service, does not only teach subjects; it shaped values, inspired thought and built character. His contribution goes far beyond academics. “He was a pillar of strength for students and colleagues. I am sure he will continue to inspire generations to come,” he said.
On this occasion, the alumni association thanked prof. Anand and Professors Shivaraj and SJ Manjunath delivered felicitations.
BIMS Chairman R. Mahesh presided. Many former students of the department proudly attended the event and reminisced about their memories as alumni of the department.
