The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will launch its ‘Ward One’ initiative across 43 wards in five city corporations on November 1. This initiative will bring together several civic agencies to clean up and repair infrastructure.
Of the 43 wards identified, 12 are in the South City Corporation, 10 in the West, eight in the East, seven in the North and six in the Central City Corporation.
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed officials to coordinate with parastatals and agencies that are stakeholders, including Bescom, BWSSB, metro and traffic police, among others.
The drive will focus on removing trash, filling potholes, repairing damaged roads and improving pedestrian crossings. Emphasis will be placed especially on the main intersections. The companies were also directed to clear overgrown vegetation and accumulated trash on railroad and K-RIDE land.
Mr. Gowda has appointed five Corporation Commissioners to prepare action plans and deploy dedicated teams for smooth implementation. He directed officials to involve residents and the Residents’ Welfare Association. He also called for action plans backed by earmarked budget allocations.
