The State Level Monitoring Committee of FYUGP (Four-Year Undergraduate Programme) has finalized the Model Uniform Academic Calendar for the academic year 2026-27 for Kerala Universities.
For the first time, students get a semester break during a week-long evaluation camp held in universities after the first, third and fifth semester exams. These exams have been held internally since the introduction of FYUGP in the state three years ago.
Valuation camps will be held from November 16 to 21 at the respective campuses. The structured assessment window is expected to speed up the release of results and increase administrative efficiency, official sources said.
Admission procedure
For first-year students, the admission process will begin within a week of the Plus Two results being released, and the trial and final rankings will be released on or before June 15. The first recruitment will be completed by June 20, followed by the second recruitment by June 26 and the third recruitment by July 4. Classes for students of the first, second and third year will start according to the calendar on July 11.
Elections to university unions are to be held before September 15. Regular classes for the first semester will end on October 30, with exams scheduled for November 2 to 13 and results to be released on or before December 15. The second semester will begin on November 23, while the fourth and sixth semesters will begin on November 2.
The sixth semester exams are scheduled from 1st to 13th April 2027 and the results will be announced by 25th May 2027 at the latest.
In particular, the calendar designates the period from April to May 2027 for second-year students to take up and complete internship opportunities
Onam, Christmas vacation
Common to all the batches, the Onam holidays are scheduled from August 22 to 31 and the Christmas holidays from December 24 to January 3, 2027. The college and university-level sports events will be held till December 19, while the arts festivals will be held till January 31. The inter-university youth and sports festival will be organized until February 28.
The academic calendar has successfully guided universities to plan and conduct the examination process on time for most courses, sources said.
