Saquib Nachan, a former bearer of the Office of the Forbidden Students of the Islamic Movement of India (Simi) and the accused in the case of Pune Isis, died on Saturday 28th June 2025 in the hospital in Delhi, days after he suffered brain bleeding, the official said.
Nachan (67), the resident of the PadGha area in Bhiwandi Taluk from the Maharashtra Thane district, was admitted to the private hospital in the capital in the capital in the last four days, the official said.
In 2023, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out PAPGHA search as part of a national intervention against ISIS terrorist clothing and arrested several people, including Nachan.
The former holder of the Simi office, who was filed in Tihar, was transported to the hospital on Tuesday (June 24, 2025) after his health deteriorated, the official said.
The doctors later confirmed that he had suffered brain bleeding, he said.
“His condition deteriorated on Saturday (June 28, 2025) and died at 12:10,” the clerk said.
His body will be handed over to his family after postmort and his last ceremonies will be made on Sunday (29th June 2025) in the village of Borivali near Padh, he said.
When she arrested Nachan in 2023, NIA said it was allegedly actively involved in promoting the terrorist activities of ISIS, designated by foreign terrorist organizations.
It also claimed that it was allegedly involved in the production, training and testing of improvised explosive devices (IED) for the commission of terrorist acts.
Nachan, in cooperation with other accused in a conspiracy, called the case of Pune ISIS, the federal agency said.
At the beginning of the week, his son and lawyer went to visit him in the hospital, the sources said.
In 2016, Nachan was convicted of his role in the bomb explosion in 2002-03 in Mumbai. After completing 10 years of imprisonment he was out, said the clerk.
In 2023, NAI was arrested, together with several others for alleged involvement in terrorist activities, including the production of improvised explosives aimed at supporting the terrorist agenda of the prohibited ISIS clothing.
According to NIA, Nacha was the main accused and independent leader of the arrested group and took over the right to submit “Bayath” or oath of loyalty self-combed “Khalifa” ISIS for persons who join the forbidden organization.
According to the probe agency, the accused declared the village as a “liberated zone” and a hub of their alleged national activities.
In the first week of June, the anti-terrorist group Maharashtra (ATS) performed a massive search operation at 22 locations in Borivali, Padngha and detained several suspects, including Nachan’s cinema, which was later allowed to go after questioning, the official said.
“In connection with these searches, two separate cases were registered, which were based on specific inputs that Nachan and his collaborators eradicated and stimulated people from the village to participate in national activities,” he said.
The ATS statement at that time stated that searching was part of the steps that were taken as a result of an attack by Pahalgam in Jamm and Kashmir in Pahalgamov on April 22 to charge anti national elements that can provide logistical support for terrorist activities.
Meanwhile, the police have intensified security in Padngha and neighboring Bhiwandi, given that the final ceremonies of Nachan will be held there, the official said.
“We keep the card in the situation,” the police officer said.
