The flood situation in the northeast region has improved in the last 24 hours, but the toll continues.
According to the Manipure Directorate on management and disaster management, the state was dry on Friday and recorded two areas that experienced light rainfall. However, the rivers in the receding regime proved to be fatal for three people, while the victims of the disasters induced by rain throughout the region were 55.
Assam recorded the most deaths with 21 soil floods and landslides, followed by 12 V Arunacal Pradesh, six in Meghalaya and Mizoram, four in manipur, three in Sikkim, two in the Tripura and one in Nagaland.
Nine people, including the leader of BJP Mahaila Morcha of Odisha, fears the dead in Sikkim after the vehicle in which he traveled fell about 1,000 feet into the river Teesta 29. A doctor based in Guwahati, which is assumed that he was caught in land landslides.
While 1.66 lakh people are still influenced by floods in manipur, mostly in the Imphal valley, the number of people affected in Assam decreased by about 1.2 lakh to 4.44 lakh in 18 districts.
The flood bulletin provided by the ASSAM catastrophe office said Brahmaputra and four other rivers were in certain sections. “We are currently operating 328 auxiliary camps and distribution centers for reliefs for 1.59 Lakhs who still have to return home,” the spokesman of the Office said.
