The flood situation in Assam continued to improve on Sunday (June 8, 2025) because the number of people affected decreased to 2.59 lamps, although tolls in this year’s flood and landslide increased to 26 years with three other deaths, the officials said.
There was no main river above the level of danger in the state, while ferry services over Brahmaputra continued partially during the day, they said.
Assam State for Catastrophe (ASDMA) said that 32 incomes and 741 villages in 11 districts continued to wind under the flood waters.
The affected population is 2.59 093, with three districts of Barak Valley remaining the worst-tobs (1,62,108), Hailakandi (51 663) and Cachar (36 271), said.
About 3.37 Lakhs in 12 districts were affected until Saturday.
Three deaths on Sunday were reported from the reception district of Nerberber in the district of Kamrup, which moved a toll to 26, including six in Mudles, said Bulletin.
More than 24,000 displaced people were hidden in 100 embossed camps, while another 30 relief distribution centers were also functional.
Porta soil of more than 6,311 hectares remains flooded, Asdma said.
Meanwhile, ferry services over Brahmaputra in Guwahati were partially renewed on Sunday, said the edition of Inland Water Transport (IWT).
The Ferry service Guwahati Madhyam Khanda will temporarily work from the Guwahati Rajaduar Ghat ferry until the road on the northern bank does not renew and considers it safe for commuting ferry, he said.
Guwahati Kuru Ferry Service will be renewed on Monday.
The operation of wooden ships in the Guwahati area will continue to be forbidden and the decision on its renewal will be taken after reviewing the river conditions, he added.
