
The village bordering with Sabarimala forests in Pathanamthitta is ready to get main support on Tuesday, as the authorities are preparing to host a kayak festival on Kakkattar, a river that is filmed along the western Ghats.
The Minister of Tourism PA Mohamed Riyas will modify the first edition of the Kodiyeri Balakrishhnan Memorial of the Kerala Tourism Seethathade Kayaking Festival at 9:30 in Seethathode. Ku Janeesh Kumar, Mla, will chair an inauguration function. Vice -President Chittayam Goupemar will invoke competitions that will take place near the fire station Seethathade in Konno.
The event is organized by Promotion Adventure Tourism Society Keral Adventure Tourism (Katps) within the tourism department. The technical support of this event is provided by the Keral Kayaking Society and Canoling Association.
The competitions will take place in men, women, men, doubling women, doubling women and mixed categories. Kayakers over 15 can participate.
A total of 110 kayers registered for various categories, of which 40 registered in male singles, 14 in female singles, 34 in male doubles, 8 in women’s doubles and 14 in mixed doubles. Up to 12 kayakers from four states outside Kerala and two international kayaks from Ukraine and Nepal will also participate at the festival.
This event offers winning money in a total of 3.45 ₹ Lakhs for competitions in various categories. Actor Navya Nair will distribute prices to winners. The first prize in the single category comes with a cash price of 25,000 GBP, while the runners receive 15,000 GBP and the second run-up £ 5,000.
In the doubles category, the winners will receive a price of the cash price of 50,000 GBP, runners receive 25 000 GBP and the second run-up £ 10,000. All participants receive certificates. Participants should wear a rescue. Kayaks, rescuers and paddles will provide Katps.
The festival is expected to strengthen the appeal of the tourism initiatives in the region, including a children’s park, ships and kayaks that are part of the Seethathod ethno Hub center.
