The first experiment, which artificially incubate the largest turtle in Asia’s mainland, manipur with the conflict interface.
The Zoological Garden Manipur in Imphal and the Indian Turtle Protection Program (ITCP) recorded 28 hatchery from the nest of Asian giant turtles.
Asian giant turtle (Manouria Emys Phayrei) is a critically endangered species from five northeast states – Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland. Hatchlings of this kind started in manipuro Program breeding for nature protection to relax them in the wild.
The project included training 25 ZOOKEEPERS and Frontline Forest Staff on the preservation and management of turtles and freshwater turtles on August 21. The training was in cooperation with ITCP.
“Our zoo is a well -known flagship breeding Sangai or eyebrows. The start of the maintenance of the Asian giant tortoises, a spectacular but lesser known reptile, has value added to our programs,” he said on Monday on Monday (August 25, 2025).
“Reserved devices would be developed for successful breeding and phase release of the species in the wild,” Singh said.
“We will perform an evaluation for suitable habitats for this type and collect information about its native distribution in various districts of manipure to understand their population status and address its specific protection requirements,” said ITCP Sushmita project coordinator.
The key members of the turtle protection program in the zoo manipur are the veterinarian L. Sarat Chandra, the officer of the Georgie Yumnam series and the animal service Durga Charan Karmakar.
