The producer company Malajálam Film JSK – Janaki vs State of Kerala turned to the High Court in Kerala, in which she claimed a delay in the Central Council for Film Certification (CBFC) in publishing a censorship certificate for the film.
Therefore, he was looking for a CBFC directive to process and issue a censor certificate in a time -bound manner.
The application was submitted on June 12 and met all legal requirements. However, CBFC did not issue a certificate or provoked any formal objection, allegedly because of the informal and oral objections concerning the title of the film and the name of the character “Janaki”, although it previously issued a censorship certificate for the teaser of the same film. This delay was arbitrary and was a violation of the proposer’s fundamental rights pursuant to Article 19 of the Constitution, the company said in its petition.
The worldwide release of the film was scheduled for 27 June and any further delay in the issue of the certificate would cause an irreparable loss of financial and reputation, she said.
