The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham demanded that the state government announce a bonus of ₹500 per quintal for paddy fish, citing rising input costs and insufficient returns for farmers.
Eluru Sangham district secretary K. Srinivas made the demand during a visit to paddy fields in Pothunuru village of Denduluru mandal on Sunday. Inspecting the harvested grain, he said the minimum support price of ₹ 2,369 per metric quintal announced by the Center was not viable in view of the rising cost of cultivation. He noted that states like Kerala were offering higher incentives, including a bonus of about ₹900 per quintal, and urged Andhra Pradesh to adopt a similar approach.
