A 33 -year -old farmer tried to end her life by consuming pesticides during a soil survey in the village of Kothavaripalle in Madanapall Mandal in Annamaya district on Thursday and claimed that officials rejected her justice in land dispute.
The woman, identified as Manjula, claimed that two acres of agricultural land registered in the name of her late father in the village of Balijipalle were illegally occupied by her relatives. She argued that, despite repeated appeal to revenue officials on verification of facts and land records, officials decided on the Encroachers side. Against this background, a woman suddenly lifted a bottle containing pesticide and released content and protested against “injustice”.
People in the neighborhood and officials immediately moved her to the government district hospital in Madanapalle. Her condition was reportedly out of danger. After the incident, the revenue officials stated that a probe would be ordered for its accusations. (Those with suicidal tendencies can dial 100).
