Hours after US President Donald Trump announced an increase in the tariff to various products, the export of Aqua products from Andhra Pradesh to the US was severely affected.
The seafood shipment has been stopped on Friday in the last 24 hours, as Donald Trump announced 26% of the Aqua products.
Farmers and exporters of the aquaculture said the export of seafood was completely stopped from the AP, which was one of the main contributors to the Aqua business in the country. Farmers said that exporters did not provide an evaluation after an increase in tariff in the US and were in panic because the stocks were subject to.
In the years 2023-24 India exported to the US 17 81 602 metric tons (MT) seafood worth 60.52 389 Crore ($ 7.38 billion), which was 34.53% of the total export of seafood from India. The share of Andhra Pradesh in the total global seafood exports to all countries was about 33%, says the officials of the Office for Developmental Development of Maritime Products (MPEDA).
India sent 2.97,571 MT frozen shrimp to the US, the largest market, followed by 1,48,483 MT to China, 89,697 MT to the European Union and 52,254 MT to Southeast Asia.
On Friday on Friday, President Andr Pradesh K. Anand Kumar said that the exporters were panic in panic.

Fishing Commissioner, Ramashankar Naik, said farmers who were in need of developments in the international market called frantically and asked about the export situation of seafood. “About 50 people are employed in the Aqua sector in the State. We will assess the current situation of the center and develop all efforts to save farmers from losses,” the Commissioner said.
Exporters argue that Ecuador, which was the main competitor of India in seafood export, paid only 10% of the tariff. Many traders closed their business due to losses.
“The cost of 100 shrimp, which was 235 kg per kg on Wednesday, reduced to 195 ₹ on Friday. The price of 60 to 70 counts, which was about 300 GBP, suddenly dropped to 210 GBP,” says Peddi Rama Rao, farmer from Krishna.
“If the state and central government do not match immediately, the Aqua in AP sector will be in Dire Straits and some lakh families will come to the road,” says the owner of the cold, Shiva of West Godavari.
Traders say that many seafood containers were stuck in different ports after Trump announced an increase in tariff, causing a huge loss.
