Ahead of New Year 2026 celebrations in Mysuru, the Excise Department conducted preventive checks here on December 31.
Excise officials and employees of all areas of Mysuru city district conducted raids in various parts of the city including Haleem Nagar, Saibaba Colony, Abdul Kalam Nagar, Vande Mataram Colony 1 and 2, Yellamma Colony and Belavatta Village.
The patrols, raids and consultations were conducted in view of possible illegal consumption activities and sale, transportation or possession of narcotics during the New Year 2026 celebrations. “During the raids, no cases of violation of excise duty or narcotic substances were detected at any of the places,” said a press statement issued by the Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Mysuru Sub-Division.
However, residents have been informed that strict action will be taken by the Excise Department if any violation or activity related to sale, transportation, consumption or possession of narcotic substances is found in their localities.
Awareness was also created about narcotics, excise duty violations and related legal penalties. Residents have also been instructed to immediately inform the Excise Department if any violations or narcotics-related activities are detected.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Vivek G, Superintendent of Excise, Mysuru and HK Ramesh, Deputy Superintendent of Excise, Mysuru.
