The historical temple of the Murugan Elkuugan in Thirukkavaai Taluk, under the Hindu religious and charity foundations (HR & CE), continues to face gaps in infrastructure, although it attracts hundreds of devoted daily and tens of thousands during large festivals.
It is located in Ethtical Panchayat, Subramaniya Swamy Swamy is known for its architecture of Chola-Ara, Association with Holy Arunagirinathar Kanda Shashti, Moon Sashti, Karthigai and Chithira Pouriums Festival.
However, the basic equipment for visitors is seriously missing. “There is only one toilet that is far from the temple, and has remained locked and unusable for a long time. There is no purpose and open defecation is common,” said T. Selvam, member of the CPI state committee and former councilor Panchayat Union. Noted the absence of the correct system of fixed waste management.
Mr. Selvam urged the government to prefer key infrastructure, including functional public toilets, dedicated parking spaces, high masts around all four sides of the main goopuam and road upgrades. He called on the expansion of access roads and the expansion of the bus booth, which is trying to drive the influx of vehicles during the time of the peaks. Despite the religious importance of the temple, the area still lacks the right public transport terminal and faces poor mobile network coverage, especially in the temple.
R. Ravi, devoted, said that the temple pond was hit by a bus hiding and urged it to return it along with walking roads and green spaces. He made the lack of a designated parking space that caused traffic jams during festivals.
The HR & CE official said that the funds have not yet been sanctioned for the infrastructure of the Ethtuku temple, but the proposals have been submitted and the work will begin after approval and financing.
