
New Delhi: On Tuesday, the Minister of Union Manohar Lal asked the state governments to take all the necessary measures to ensure the Indian energy ecosystem against the threats of cyber security, and urged states to build at least one nuclear race in their respective countries to give this form support.
The Minister applied for guarantees for the protection of cyber security for the energy sector infrastructure, especially transmission networks and distribution networks, and advised states to perform appropriate cyber security protocols and accepted the schemes of the Island. Such schemes can insulate a part of the power grid during interference and continue running separately, preventing the lunge throughout the net.

Recommendations are of importance because the country has witnessed several disorders in the Indian energy network during the recent conflict with Pakistan.
The Minister spoke in Patna at a regional conference on power for Indian Eastern states.

The meeting was attended by ShriPad YESSO NAIK, State Minister of Trade Unions for Power and Renewable Energy; Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Main Minister, Odisha; Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Minister of Energy in Bihar; and Sudivya Kumar, Minister of Cities and Housing Development, Jharkhand. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of the Union Energy Pankaj Agarwal, the secretaries of the authority of the participating states and the executives of medium and state energy entities.
The Minister urged states to include nuclear energy in the plans of adequacy, and asked them to consider the establishment of at least one nuclear power plant in each state. Its note assumes importance in the background of India, which by 2047 sets an ambitious target of 100 GW for installed nuclear energy capacity. To this end, the government is also ready to allow private players to establish nuclear power plants in the country.

When he talked about demand for power, the Minister noted that India successfully fulfilled a record demand of 250GW last May. This year, the country has so far witnessed the top demand of 241GW. Projection for this year is the fresh high highest demand for 270GW energy.
The Minister also asked states to seek to solve the problems he faced in the development of transmission projects, including the Row Right, which is the main problem in terms of transmission network growth. The right to travel concerns a legal permit to browse or use one’s private land.
In the previous financial year (FY25), only 8,830 circuits (CKM) were added, which, according to the Central Electric Office, is 37.8% less than 14 203 kkm in the previous fiscal office.
Lal, who spoke of the share of renewable energy in the country, said the proportion of renewable energy in the Indian energy mixture increased from 32% in 2014 to 49% in April 2025. He urged states to support energy sources along with energy storage systems to ensure the reliability of energy supply.
He also urged states to introduce the obligation of renewable purchase (RPO), which orders the company distribution to provide and supply green energy.
Minister noted that while the distribution sector is the most critical link in the energy chain of the energy sector requiring estimated £42 trillion by 2032 faces challenges due to poor tariff structures, sub-optimal billing and collection and delayed payments of government ministry of fees and subsidies.
