Power Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Wednesday held a review meeting with senior officials and CMDs of power companies to review the situation in the cyclone-hit areas.
Officials informed him that power supply was temporarily suspended in some regions due to strong winds and heavy rains. The minister instructed them to carry out pole-to-pole checks as soon as possible and restore supply in all safe zones.
He directed that the additional manpower deployed from SPDCL be effectively utilized to speed up the restoration work at the ground level. Mr. Ravi Kumar emphasized the need to maintain adequate stock of essential materials to ensure uninterrupted power supply after completion of restoration. He urged the workers and engineers of the power plants to remain alert and strictly follow safety protocols to avoid accidents during the restoration activities. Officials said persistent rain is hampering overall recovery in some areas, but all teams are working around the clock to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
