While an elephant watching operation that reached Dodbetta last week stretched into the seventh day, local nature and forest department employees are convinced that the animal that has now reached the Ketti Valley will achieve their home reach in the Coonoor Sjekes in the coming days. They urged the locals in this area to be caution.
The elephant, a sub-administered man who is known to have a even temperament and showed no aggression towards people, got into the Doddabett reserve forest last weekend. Then the area was closed to tourists by a forest department, which worked on the persecution of an elephant away from the area and back to Coonoor, but with little success.
A few days ago, the elephant Doddabett left and descended along Arakkad (believed to the route he set out to reach Dodbetta in the first place) and to the Ketti valley, where she fled in the last few days. Since its ascent from the area, the peak of Dodbett was reopened to tourists, some of which have been captured by videos and pictures of the elephant peacefully walking along the Coonoor-Usthagamandalam road and towards the Ketti valley.
Forest managers said that the forest staff teams were sent to the area to monitor the animal because they are now convinced that the elephant will most likely find their way back to Coonoor.
They said, because the animal did not show any signs of aggression towards people that they were little threats for people in this area, but urged the inhabitants to proceed with caution when letting them out their homes.
