On Tuesday (September 9, 2025), the Election Commission (EC) ordered the main election officer Bihar to issue instructions for accepting Aadhaar among documents that can be submitted during a special intensive revision (SIR) of election roles in the state, the day after the Supreme Court’s order.
In its Regulation Sir 24 June Sir provided an EC indicative list of 11 documents to be provided as evidence of birth and stay along with forms of enumeration.
On Monday (September 8, 2025), the Supreme Court had ordered the EC to include Aadhaar as 12. The “indicative” documents from which each person seeking integration or exclusion into the Bihar election role could give a document.

He also noted that, according to the 1950s Act, Aadhaar is one of the documents listed for the purpose of determining the identity of the person.
The proposal of the electoral roles of Bihar published 1 August excluded 65 Lakhs who were present in earlier voters’ lists, including deaths, migration and duplicity.
After the last SC command of Aadhaar accepting in cases where no other documents were available, the EC said that all voters questioning erase their names in the role proposal could make claims along with a copy of their Aadhaar card in the absence of one of the 11 indicative documents. The survey authority stated that such applications would receive hearing from the election registration officer (ERO), who would then call to include or exclude names from the final list.
According to Sir issued on June 24, the ERO has the power to explore all demands and investigate the Suo Mot and issue notifications to each voter.
